La Petite Jatinga
If you are looking for a beautiful holiday home in the heart of French culture then look no further......This centrally heated gite is situated in a beautiful rural setting with splendid views looking towards the historic village of Cadouin (0.5km). Cadouin (UNESCO heritage site) is an attractive small village a few kilometres south of the river Dordogne, situated between Bergerac and Sarlat. Cadouin itself boasts a magnificent 12th century abbey, hotel, restaurants, many local artisans, tourist information centre and boulangerie. Cadouin is best known for its Abbey which was built in 1115. The Abbey became a major pilgrim destination in the Middle Ages because of a piece of cloth thought to be part of the shroud of Jesus Christ. In the 1930s the cloth was found to date from the 12th century but the abbey still attracts lots of visitors. The main attraction now is its beautiful gothic cloister and carved chapters. Cadouin Abbey is now listed as a World Heritage Site with UNESCO as part of the pilgrimage route to Compostella. Bergerac airport is an easy 30 minutes drive away and medieval Sarlat is a 25 minute drive. The many Chateaux and Bastide towns of the Dordogne are all within a short drive. Address
